Quote from "A Form of Sound Words" by Charles Spurgeon

Charles Surgeon: Form of Sound Words, p. 634-636 “In the first place, every deviation from truth is a sin. It is not simply a sin for me to do a wrong act, but it is a sin for me to believe a wrong doctrine. Lately our ministers have absolved us all from obeying God in our judgments; they have told us point blank, (many of them, in their drawing-rooms, and some of them in the pulpit) that we shall never be asked in the day of judgment what we believed. We have been told that for our actions we shall be responsible, but for our faith we shall be irresponsible (or something very much like it). They have told us plainly, that the God who made us, although He has authority over our hands, our feet, our eyes, and our lips, hath but little authroity over our judgment; they have told us, that if we make ver such bluders in divinity, they are no sins, so long as we can live right lives! But is that true? No: the whole man is bound to serve God; and if God gives me a judgment (i.e.: … [Read more...]

35 Reasons Not To Sin

35 Reasons Not To Sinby Jim Elliff Because a little sin leads to more sin. Because my sin invites the discipline of God. Because the time spent in sin is forever wasted. Because my sin never pleases but always grieves God who loves me. Because my sin places a greater burden on my spiritual leaders. Because in time my sin always brings heaviness to my heart. Because I am doing what I do not have to do. Because my sin always makes me less than what I could be. Because others, including my family, suffer consequences due to my sin. Because my sin saddens the godly. Because my sin makes the enemies of God rejoice. Because sin deceives me into believing I have gained when in reality I have lost. Because sin may keep me from qualifying for spiritual leadership. Because the supposed benefits of my sin will never outweigh the consequences of disobedience. Because repenting of my sin is such a painful process, yet I must repent. Because sin is a very brief pleasure for an eternal … [Read more...]

How to Avoid Sexual Temptation

I fully believe that one of the primary reasons Church's suffer and are not experiencing God's blessing but discipline is because many professing Christians are secretly engaging in some type of sexual immorality. I encourage you to watch the teaching on the video and guard yourself against all temptation and sin, but especially this variety, for it is rampant in today's church leadership and church membership and our culture is absolutely baptized in it. Sinlessness of Jesus

Recently I read that someone believed that "The Bible says that Jesus wasn't sinless...the guy cursed a tree for not bearing fruit out of season. How nuts is that? Plum(b) sinful if you ask me."The Bible says that He was sinless: Jesus "was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin" (Hebrews 4:15). On the cross, the Father made Jesus "to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" (2 Corinthians 5:21).The barren fig tree which Jesus cursed could have been symbolic of Israel: "I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree" (Hosea 9:10); "And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee . . . Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof" (Matthew21:19,43).The "nation" bringing forth the fruits thereof is the … [Read more...]
