The Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

This is a well balanced statement on the roll of men and women in the church.  There is no point in talking about what people think about Manhood and Womanhood because there are a thousand thoughts and a thousand opinions in the world. What really matters is what God thinks of “Manhood” and “Womanhood” – what God appointed for maleness and femaleness.  That is the only thing that matters in the end. Other things in the short run seem attractive, but they will leave you in pain at the end if they are not of God. This statement shows why distinction in masculine and

CBMW » Women in Ministry: Practical Application of Biblical Teaching

The following article from the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.  It is a great summary to a difficult issue within the church because we have bought into the idea that God does not structure families or churches with different roles for men and women.  While the Scripture is clear that both men and women are equal in their person and in their relationship with God,  God has restricted some roles in the church for men alone.  Read and learn about God’s standard applied in a local church practically in the article below CBMW » Women in Ministry: Practical Application

John Piper – Perserverence, Lordship Salvation, Easy Believism

Perseverance is an important doctrine to understand, because unless we persevere in faith we will not be saved. If you stop believing your belief was in vain. The Christian life is a war that is a life long fight of faith. You will fight sin until you die or you will loose (see 2 Timothy 4:7), but all who are justified will win this fight (not spared this fight) and persevere in faith (thought there may be seasons of backsliding) because “Perseverance” is the promise of the New Covenant.   In our study of scripture, we need to be honest

Letter to a Friend Concerning the So-Called "Lordship Salvation"

One of the best peaceable (Irenic) conversation on the issue of Lordship salvation that I have read in a long time.      I think it is beneficial to believe that not all of us understand what happens at conversion of sinners.  Many times our framework for interpreting our salvation is not biblical while not denying our genuine salvation. I think this is very very good:  Letter to a Friend Concerning the So-Called “Lordship Salvation”:  on DesiringGod.org” see also www.disciplemaking.net

Scriptures as Sermon Illustration Resource | Soul Preaching Ministries

While it is good to use illustrations to explain apply, argue or celebrate a truth.  I was confronted with the necessary practice of looking to Scripture for my illustrations first.  I have heard the advise of using scripture as the only source of sermon illustrations, which I thought was not biblical,, but I am considering this arguement from “Soul Preaching” that since the Bible is the preeminent authority, we should seek illustrations from the Bible first.  This is not to say that we cannot use other sources, but recognizes that all other sources of authority (history, experience, science, tradition, etc.) are lesser authorities. Dispenationalism vs Covenantalism

Here are 2 good videos showing how we should hold to our theological systems with humility. The problem with Dispensationalism and Covenantalism is that they cannot critique themselves with Scripture. This video will help you understand how to deal with the unity and diversity within Scripture. —— —- see also www.disciplemaking.net
