Bible Reading Plans for 2016 (First Post)

Here is a list of  Bible reading plans from Ligonier Ministries to start off the 2016 on the right foot.  I believe that reading the bible is one the most negelected means of grace that can improve our intimacy and passion for God through Christ.  I will post more on this next week as we approach 2016. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Paslm 119:105) Many Christians take the beginning of a new year to evaluate their Bible reading habits, and then change or begin a Bible reading plan. For your convenience, we’ve

Christmas Convictions

As Christmas Day fast approaches, it always helps me to slow down this time of year and think though what my beliefs and convictions are about my faith in Christ, Christianity, and Christmas.  As I have reflected on my faith this year (2015), two convicting implications stood out to me. First, the Christmas story shows the depraved state of humanity. Why would God send His son to earth?  So we can celebrate his birthday every December 25th with our holiday traditions and presents? As holly and jolly as this season is, the Christmas story communicates the grim reality that mankind is

Real Prosperity Requires No Change of Scenery; Properly Understanding the Jer. 29:11 Promise by Wade Burleson

I am always looking for good articles to help Christians to get past their folk theology in become good readers of the Bible.  This is one article that helps any christian understand how to understand the Scriptures well and particular a popular verses that many of use use for encouragement: http://www.wadeburleson.org/2015/11/real-prosperity-requires-no-change-of.html Real Prosperity Requires No Change of Scenery; Properly Understanding the Jer. 29:11 Promise There is a promise from God in Jeremiah 29:11 that is often quoted and nearly always misinterpreted. God says, “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not harm you…plans

A “More Devout” Muslim Is a Danger to Civilization

by Wade Burleson http://www.wadeburleson.org/2015/12/a-more-devout-muslim-is-danger-to.html The following is part of an article written by  Pastor Wade Burleson on his blog about the distinction between a “Devout Muslim” and a “Nominal Muslim” (which is different from what is devotion and nominalism in Christianity) The ABC News headline about the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California states that the Islamic woman involved in the California shooting had become “more devout”. Think about that headline. The Muslim woman had become “more devout.” Those two words are chilling. Our President and other “politically correct” Americans want us to believe that this 21st century war on Islamic terrorism is not about

What is the greatest way to bring Joy to the nations This Christmas?

Howdy.  I hope you are doing well as you and your family prepare for worshiping our Lord this Christmas season.  As you know we are in a week of prayer and fasting for international missions as we prepare to give to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.  The following thoughts came out of me one day after reading a short article on evangelism and missions.  I believe in evangelism and missions because I believe its necessity is taught in the Bible.   The Bible declares that “there is one God, and [only] one mediator also between God and men, the man Jesus

A to Z Gospel

“The Gospel is not just the ABC’s but the A to Z of Christianity in life. The Gospel, biblically and richly understood, ought to shape everything we do in the local church.”  — Tim Keller I love that quote becauase it resonates with my own emerging understanding of the Gospel.  In fact we never graduate from that God’s of Christ that God has shown to us in his scriptures.  The Good news must relate to all of the Christian life or none of it at all.  We, as Christians, never graduate from the Gospel in order to become self made people.

The Great Debate: Greg Bahnsen vs Gordon Stein

The Great Debate: Greg Bahnsen vs Gordon Stein on Vimeo. Christian philosopher Greg Bahnsen debates atheist Gordon Stein. Bahnsen’s presentation and defense of the transcendental argument for the existence of God was masterful. He showed that one can focus on a crucial element of defending the faith, not get pulled into side issues, and repeatedly place the challenge before one’s skeptical opponent. “The transcendental proof for God’s existence is that without Him it is impossible to prove anything. The atheist world view is irrational and cannot consistently provide the preconditions of intelligible experience, science, logic, or morality.” By the time you have
