The Various Branches of New Covenant Theology

New Covenant Theology is not monolithic, but has a spectrum of positions when it comes to how the covenants work together.  some of the viewpoints that I have found in the following article include:  Statutes NCT (Greg Gibson) Subset NCT (Steve Lehrer) Classic NCT / New Law Giver NCT (John Reisinger, Jon Zens, Gary Long, Tom Wells, & Fred Zaspel) Picture-Fulfillment New Covenant Theology While this may not be the full spectrum you can read more on this spectrum at Christ, Our Covenant: The Various Branches of New Covenant Theology see also www.disciplemaking.net

What Is the Mission of the Church?

Here is an excellent audio (MP3) that will encourage you to make discipels as the mission of the church and the way God Glory is uniquely displayed in the church today. What Is the Mission of the Church?: “Posted by C.J. Mahaney Kevin DeYoung’s message “Rethinking the Mission of the Church” is the best I’ve heard on this topic, which is why I asked him to deliver it at the recent Sovereign Grace Pastors Conference. Kevin provides sharp theological discernment on this topic. In the conclusion of his message, Kevin said, So what is the mission of the church? The mission of the

Good Example of Open-Air street Witnessing

Here is one of my friends, James, who is witnessing to people at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica last Saturday Night.  This is one of his best encounters with a man who is a consistent antagonist each week.  This is a known place where stars from Movies and TV shop, but it also a hangout for many and a fund place to do their shopping.  This is a weekly Evangelistic ministry at the 3rd street Promenade http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPpXERHygeM see also www.disciplemaking.net

The Square Circle of Compatibilism

The Square Circle of Compatibilism: “Derek Ashton, Founder and the Paradox team————My Note: the only thig that is confusing about this post is that compatablism and moderate determinism are the same thing from his description and my understanding——— In the previous post, I proposed that ‘square circles’ actually exist in the form of the classic 3-dimensional cylinder. Building on this illustration, I’d like to examine some further implications of compatibilism. Compatibilism affirms God’s deterministic sovereignty and human freedom/responsibility. It says the two are not incompatible, but entirely reconcilable – though perhaps in ways not yet revealed. One could argue that a cylinder

WHAT WOMEN CAN DO IN MINISTRY: FULL PARTICIPATION WITHIN BIBLICAL BOUNDARIES

Dr. Jim Hamilton wrote this good irenic (peaceable) paper on the issue of women in ministry: WHAT WOMEN CAN DO IN MINISTRY: FULL PARTICIPATION WITHIN BIBLICAL BOUNDARIES He states in his conclusion: I have argued that a biblical understanding of full participation in ministry does not mean that one exercises one’s gifts in any and every circumstance. Rather, full participation in ministry means exercising one’s gifts under the Lordship of Christ by the power of the Spirit in accordance with one’s role in the body as assigned by the Father. God has also assigned gender to human beings, and the Bible sets parameters on

The Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

This is a well balanced statement on the roll of men and women in the church.  There is no point in talking about what people think about Manhood and Womanhood because there are a thousand thoughts and a thousand opinions in the world. What really matters is what God thinks of “Manhood” and “Womanhood” – what God appointed for maleness and femaleness.  That is the only thing that matters in the end. Other things in the short run seem attractive, but they will leave you in pain at the end if they are not of God. This statement shows why distinction in masculine and

CBMW » Women in Ministry: Practical Application of Biblical Teaching

The following article from the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.  It is a great summary to a difficult issue within the church because we have bought into the idea that God does not structure families or churches with different roles for men and women.  While the Scripture is clear that both men and women are equal in their person and in their relationship with God,  God has restricted some roles in the church for men alone.  Read and learn about God’s standard applied in a local church practically in the article below CBMW » Women in Ministry: Practical Application

John Piper – Perserverence, Lordship Salvation, Easy Believism

Perseverance is an important doctrine to understand, because unless we persevere in faith we will not be saved. If you stop believing your belief was in vain. The Christian life is a war that is a life long fight of faith. You will fight sin until you die or you will loose (see 2 Timothy 4:7), but all who are justified will win this fight (not spared this fight) and persevere in faith (thought there may be seasons of backsliding) because “Perseverance” is the promise of the New Covenant.   In our study of scripture, we need to be honest
