No Fear of God
Here is a good article on thinking about our freedoms on the 4th of July. Jerry Rankin expresses in his following blog well my concerns about our country. It seems that the church is not as aggressive in its desire for holiness and evangelism as it use to be. Maybe we are separating the gospel from our national pride. Maybe we don’t celebrate this day of independence in our churches as we should – both physically and spiritually. No Fear of God by Jerry Rankin Yesterday was an emotional worship experience in the church I attended. Being July 4th, everyone had on red,
The Five Illegal Uses of God’s Law
The Five Illegal Uses of God’s Law: ” by Pastor Wolfmueller The Apostle Paul once said to young pastor Timothy, “Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully” (1 Timothy 1:8). This statement written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, warns us that when it comes to the preaching and use of God’s law that there are lawful and unlawful, legal and illegal uses of God’s Holy Law. Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller of Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colorado has written a wonderful article on the Illegal uses of God’s Law that I am reproducing
But Wait, They Can See My Notes
But Wait, They Can See My Notes: by Peter meedYesterday I wrote about some of the challenges that come from our listeners not being able to see our notes. We preach orally, but tend to prepare in literary forms (manuscript, indented outlines, etc.) I mentioned the issue of transitions – very different animals in spoken than in written communication. I mentioned the need to indicate sense of progress, or purpose of illustration. But wait, isn’t there a shortcut to circumvent this whole issue? The Potential Powerpoint Shortcut – Wouldn’t it be better to just project your notes so they can

The Master’s Seminary Journal: New Covenant Theology
The Master’s Seminary Journal discusses New Covenant Theology (CT) Reading opposing viewpoints has helped me in understanding the differences in CT, NCT, and DT. The Volume 18, Number 2, Fall 2007 of the Master’s Seminary Journal is extremely helpful in defining terms, making proper theological distinctions when it comes to this kid of theological discussion. While I don’t buy into a particular version of NCT yet, I do lean toward NCT with some exceptions. Unlike versions of CT and DT, NCT makes Christ the priority of the Scriptures. Read this critique and disagreement of NCT in the Master’s seminary Journal – fall, 2007 issue – which is dedicated

The Use of the Old Testament in the New
Here is a great article on the New Testament use of Old Testament passages. The Use of the Old Testament in the New by David Niblack RESEARCH PAPER “The Use of the Old Testament in the New” David Niblack BI-422 A. Schmutzer – Spring 2005 February 17, 2005 Abstract The enormous amount of differing opinions bears testimony to the complexity of the exegetical problems that the NT use of the OT poses for the modern evangelical interpreter. There are four major different schools that use a different paradigm in explaining the so-called “out-of-context” citations by the inspired NT authors. The
