The Centrality of the Gospel by Tim Keller

It has been a great and ongoing Biblical discovery for me to understand how the gospel must be applied to all of life, especially considering how Paul deals with Peter in Galatians 2:14.  The article below has helped me see this more and more. The Centrality of the Gospel by Tim Keller My Summary and Reaction to Making the Gospel Central in Keller’s ArticleIt amazes me that I have not seen the connection that the Gospel is both truth and power both doctrine and life.  Colossians 1:6 is becoming more and more important in my understanding how the Gospel is both rational

Affirm this Quote From "the Archer and the Arrow"

Do you affirm this quote on Biblical Theology from “They Archer and Arrow” by Phillip Jensen and Paul Grimmond (p.79)?: Biblical Theology will help pastors be better preachers.   The way we are using the term, ‘biblical theology’ means basically two things.  First, it is the acknowledgement that the Bible unfolds us as progressive revelation.  When God spoke to Abraham, the fullness of his character and the details of his plans for creation were not known in the way that they were subsequently revealed through the apostles.  For this reason Biblical reading always involves remembering where we are up to in God’s unfolding plan

Quote: The Archer and the Arrow – Agree or disagree?

Do you affirm this quote on Biblical Theology from “They Archer and Arrow” by Phillip Jensen and Paul Grimmond (pp.80, 81)?: Before the coming of Christ, God’s plans for the world were only revealed in embryo…. And yet in spite of such a great, God-given transformation between the ages, the people of the new covenant are to read the Old Testament as their book.  The early believers did not need to bridge the many centuries between themselves and Moses; they just needed to understand the word of God revealed in the Old Testament in light of the coming Christ.  What separated first-century Greeks from Hebrews who lived 2000 years before them was

Humbling Our Theology to God and His Word – The Bible

In thinking more about humbling my thingking to God and his word when it comes to theological development, I believe that the key is to test our presuppositions, preunderstandings and theological systems by the Word of God, making the Scriptures our preeminent authority, not to deny that we have a theological system. I admit that this is not easy to do, since many times we have emotional commitments to certain theological systems (or parts of theological systems) because: We still suffer from indwelling sin and idolatry We don’t see the the scriptures from a whole or complete canonical viewpoint as

Placing a Bible Verse in the pattern of Sound Words (2 Timothy 1:13)

I continue to study and work on how the bible frames the demands of the New Testament Law upon unbelievers since we have a new lawgiver Jesus instead of Moses. This concept of framing is very important because to now see every verse in its Canonical framework can make us misuse texts. Paul says to Timothy: “Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 1:13 ESV). Notice that we are not just to follow the words but the pattern (the framework) of sound
